Nominations will be accepted March 2, 2015 through March 31, 2015. The award recipient will be recognized and honored by the Pender County Board of County Commissioners. The award recipient's name will be inscribed on a plaque to be presented to the recipient. A second plaque will be on display in the Board of County Commissioners' Chambers. Nomination forms and instructions are available at Pender County office buildings, or public libraries in Burgaw and Hampstead. Forms and instructions may also be downloaded or completed online at

The North Carolina Department of Transportation will continue the bridge closure on SR 1102 (Morgan Road) .2 miles North of the Junction of NC 210 that began Friday September 19th at 8:00am until Thursday April 30th, 2015 at 5:00pm for abridge replacement.

DETOUR:  NC 210 to NC 11 to NC 53 to the connection of SR 1547 (Longview Road) and SR 1102 (Morgan Road) and reverse (Signed Detour Installed)

Millers Pond Park located at 12762 US Highway 117 in Rocky Point is closed for construction.  New facilities will include a picnic shelter/restroom facility, fishing pier, canoe/kayak launch, playground, trail enhancements and additional parking.  It is anticipated to open in April 2015.  If you have any questions, please contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 910-259-1330.
