The new website is built on the DotNetNuke Content Management System, which encompasses Web 2.0 technology. With this new system, selected staff members will have the ability to enter content such as news items, calendar events, upload documents, etc., thus keeping news and information current on the new website. In addition, the new website will allow for visitors to register and receive calendar event reminders, news updates, RSS feeds, etc.
The website's design has gone through 5 concept designs since the "re-design" project begun. The final design was voted for and approved by the Web Advisory Committe.
Mr. Earl Moore, the County’s Web Administrator, has been working on re-designing the County’s website over the past year. Moore is responsible for the design, hosting, maintenance, and management of all Pender County websites and web applications.
A Web Advisory Committee was created to assist Mr. Moore in identifying, advising, and advocating for web needs and services for Pender County. The Committee considers and recommends web-related policies and procedures, and takes a proactive role in promoting the integration of web and new media into the daily life of the Pender County Government. The Committee’s efforts will also ensure that the County’s mission and goals are served in short and long-term web planning.
The Website Advisory Committee consists of Angela Blake (Information Technology Services), Ann Coombs (Information Technology Services), Cindy Goodin (Public Library), Diana Morris (Health Department), Earl Moore (Information Technology Services), Erik Harvey (Information Technology Services), Herbert Estelle (DSS), Kyle Breuer (Planning & Community Development), Monique Baker (Tourism), and Sandi McIntyre (Human Resources).
We would also like to thank Kelsey Seitter for volunteering her time with assisting with the website.
