The Pender County Health Department is pleased to announce the addition of Kathy Barnes, DDS, as the new dentist for the agency’s mobile dental unit. Dr. Barnes is a resident of Hampstead and has operated a private general dental practice since 1990.

Dr. Barnes is a native of Tabor City, N.C. She attended UNC-Wilmington for her undergraduate degree, where she received a B.A. in Chemistry. She graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with the degree of Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1989 and quickly opened a solo practice in Hampstead.

Carolyn Moser, Health Director, stated that Dr. Barnes would be a wonderful asset to the Pender County Health Department’s dental program. Dr. Barnes is energetic and has a positive, upbeat personality that is infectious. There is no doubt she will be able to relate well with those children and adults that she serves. She will begin work with a new mobile dental team beginning September 10, 2012. We are anxious to resume mobile dental services the first week of October.

She is married to Timothy Barnes and has a daughter who is a senior at Topsail High School.
