NOTICE OF 2009 ELECTION FILING PERIOD

The candidate filing period for the 2009 Municipal Elections will open Monday, July 6, 2009 at 8:00 am and will end on Friday, July 17, 2009 at noon. Filling for all Municipalities will be conducted at the Pender County Board of Elections office located at 807 S. Walker Street, Burgaw. All Municipal Elections will be conducted on Tuesday November 3, 2009. Seats open for election and the incumbents are as follows:
Town of Burgaw
Mayor – Kenneth (Pete) T. Cowan – 4 year term
Commissioner – Janet (Jan) L. Dawson – Howard N. Walker Jr. – 4 year term
Commissioner – UNEXPIRED TERM - Louis (Sonny) Davis - 2 year term
Town of Surf City
Councilman - Douglas Medlin – Michael H. Curley – 4 year term
Town of Topsail Beach
Commissioner – Donald R. Strader – Garth W. Boyd – Duncan (Bobby) Humphrey – 4 year term
Village of St Helena
Mayor – Robert M. Barnhill – 2 year term
Councilman – Thomas Bradshaw – George P. Spisak – 4 year term
Town of Atkinson
Mayor – Lonnie J. (Jack) Turner – 2 year term
Alderman Ward 3 – Jody D. Woodcock – Alderman Ward 4 – Linda Woodcock – 4 year term
Town of Watha
Mayor – Marion Knowles Jr. – 4 year term
