 Limited Public Access Effective March 18, 2020

 In an effort to follow CDC and local health authorities’ recommendations, promote social distancing and to protect all staff and the public during the current State of Emergency, the Register of Deeds office will be amending all in-person services.

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak resulting in a declaration of emergency, we are implementing the following steps to restrict access to the Register of Deeds Office.

The Pender County Register of Deeds office remains open during normal business hours however, we encourage customers to use our online services to reduce the number of in-person interactions. Most of our services are available online.

  • Customers needing certified copies of birth, death or marriage certificates should make a purchase on-line or mail-in printed request.
  • Online orders can be place here: Get Certificate Now
  • Mail-in request forms can be found here: Vital Records written request form along with the fee and a copy of the photo id. Mail to: Pender ROD PO Box 43 Burgaw, NC 28425. Mailed in request will be processed the same day or the following day depending on time of submission.
  • To apply for a marriage license, please call our office to schedule an appointment. Please complete the application before arriving at the ROD office. The on-line marriage application can be found here: Marriage license application
  • Any Notary that needs to take their oath of office or Veteran needing to record their discharge papers may do so by appointment only.
  • Lawyers, financial institutions and others with eRecording accounts should continue to use that service. For customers who prefer to record in person, we recommend that you enroll to e-Record. Please contact one of our vendors to submit documents electronically. Corporation Service Company (CSC) or Simplifile.com. At this time Simplifile will waive the annual fee for the life of the account for any new account that is setup during the next 2 weeks.
  • Funeral Homes should fax their request for death certificates to 910-259-1299 or call the office at 910-259-1225 in order to have request processed to limit the time in office for pickup.
