PENDER COUNTY – Pender County Emergency Management, which has been fully activated since 7 a.m., Sept. 4, offers residents another communication option. Residents can text questions to emergency management by texting 910-620-9405 or email questions to

“We are fully staffed and monitoring Hurricane Dorian,” said Tom Collins, Pender County Emergency Management director.

“We urge residents who reside in travel trailers, substandard housing, and in low-lying area to seek shelter,” said Collins. “Hurricane Dorian will spawn tornadoes and later we will face hurricane force winds. Seek shelter before we reach the height of the storm.”

Collins said non-emergency questions can be texted, messaged on Facebook, or emailed into the Emergency Operations Center. Staff is ready to take your phone calls too. Call 910-259-1210.
