In an effort to enhance community safety and well-being, residents of Pender County are urged to participate in the upcoming National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. This event, aimed at preventing accidental exposure, poisoning, and medication misuse, will feature two convenient medication disposal locations on April 27th.
Community members are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity by safely disposing of their unused or expired medications at the following designated drop-off locations:
- Surf City Police Department Address: 214 W. Florence Way, Hampstead, NC 28443 Time: 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
- Rocky Point Pavilion Pharmacy Address: 7910 US-117 #110, Rocky Point, NC 28457 Time: 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
National Prescription Drug Take Back Day provides a safe and convenient avenue for individuals to rid their households of prescription drugs, thereby reducing the risk of accidental exposure or misuse. Proper disposal also prevents environmental harm associated with improper disposal methods.
Unused medications left unattended in homes can pose serious health and safety hazards. By participating in these events, community members play a vital role in promoting responsible medication management practices and safeguarding public health.
Items accepted for disposal include unused prescriptions, ointments, pet medications, or patches. However, the following items will not be accepted: illegal drugs, vitamins, illegal narcotics, batteries, hydrogen peroxide, syringes, needles, EpiPens, creams, aerosol cans, thermometers, lancets, inhalers, and over-the-counter medicines.
Participation in the medication disposal events is free and anonymous. All community members are encouraged to join us on April 27th to contribute to a safer and healthier community.
