PENDER COUNTY, NC – Effective at 8 am March 21st, 2025, a burn ban has been issued for all unincorporated areas within Pender County due to very high fire danger conditions. This ban will be enacted in conjunction with the NC Forest Service’s Statewide Burning Ban.
This Burn Ban will apply to ALL outside burning that is being conducted within 100 feet of an occupied dwelling; including but not limited to fire pits, and yard debris. The burning of any material other than natural vegetation is illegal, regardless of the Burn Ban status. All areas outside of 100 feet of an occupied dwelling will be enforced per NC Forestry guidelines.
Violations of this ban will result in a civil citation of $100 for the first event, which may increase with additional occurrences.
The burn ban will remain in place until further notice. Pender County Fire Marshal’s Office will send out a notice when it is lifted and/or to communicate any necessary safety updates.
