Auctions of County Surplus Items, Approved 8/1/22

Pender County’s Auctions will be administered by GovDeals, an online auction service specializing in surplus government property liquidation. GovDeals will collect fees as outlined on each auction that will be passed on to the buyer.  All auctions are open to the public and there is no cost to register.   The general rules can be found here.  The County encourages all citizens to view surplus and bid on items of interest.   Click here to view all auctions.

Demolition Services, RFP # 220512-228

Pender County is seeking Proposals for a variety of demolition services in RFP # 220512-228 on multiple County owned sites, as well as remaining infrastructure at the former Long Creek School site are included. Sites may be awarded individually or all to one vendor.  All work will be expected to be completed in June 2022.

A site visit has been scheduled for May 19th at 1pm at the former Long Creek School site, Project #1.  Attendance at the site visit is not mandatory but is strongly encouraged.  Any questions on this project are due to Trisha Newton at purchasing@pendercountync.gov and have been extended to May 20, 2022, at 9am.  Answers will be provided the same day.  Sealed bids are due no later than May 23, 2022 at 2pm in the Pender County Finance Office, located at 805 S. Walker St., Burgaw, NC  28425. Vendors are reminded to check back periodically for possible Addenda.

The County reserves the right to reject any or all proposals for which, in the County’s opinion, is in the best overall interest of the County and to waive minor irregularities in the evaluation process.  County also reserves the right to further negotiate minor modifications with the successful proposer upon completion of the evaluation process prior to the execution of a final contract.

 

Scope of Work:

The Proposer (also referred to as the “Contractor”) shall provide all materials, tools, machinery, labor, and supervision necessary for the demolition work of buildings and accessory structures. Demolition work shall include excavation of any footing foundations and removal of all debris from the demolition site.  Additionally, the Contractor must properly fill and seal all damaged/exposed wells.*

Pender County to host Business Expo

BURGAW – Pender County Tourism will host an upcoming 2022 Pender County Business Expo.

The Pender County Business Expo is scheduled for Tuesday, May 24 from 10 am to 6 pm and will be held in the Gymnasium and Family Life Center of the Hampstead United Methodist Church located at 15395 US-17, Hampstead.

“This one-day event will allow networking with area businesses and professionals along with a vendor trade show for the promotion of products and services of participating businesses,” states Tammy Proctor, Pender County Tourism Director. “This will be a convenient event for residents to learn about the goods and services located here in Pender County, a one-stop-shop for available services for all residents.”

Pender County’s first Annual Business Expo will provide an opportunity to showcase many area businesses, services, and products all in one place. The event will include promotional materials, giveaways, and door prizes.

“The Business Expo is open to all area businesses and supporting chamber members for participation as a vendor for the event,” states Stephanie Key, Pender County Tourism assistant.

The community and area professionals are invited to attend. Free admission for the public.

Pender County Parks and Recreation extends public comment period

BURGAW – Pender County Parks and Recreation is seeking public comments on the 2022-2032 Pender County Parks and Recreation Comprehensive Master Plan.

The public comment period that opened Tuesday, February 22 has been extended and will now close Wednesday, March 30, 2022.

The plan is available for review online at pendercountync.gov and In-person at 805 South Walker St. in Burgaw.

The Pender County Parks and Recreation Department continues to update the Parks and Recreation Master Plan with the goal of better understanding the communities’ current recreation needs as the county prepares for additional parks, facilities, and programs. Since the adopted 2010 Comprehensive Parks and Recreation Master Plan, the county experienced significant growth. The county recognizes the important need for additional parks and recreation resources.

Public Comment Open for 2022-2032 Parks and Recreation Comprehensive Master Plan

A 30-day public comment period opens on 2/22/22 and closes on 3/23/22 to provide residents and interested individuals the opportunity to give feedback on the 2022-2032 Draft Parks and Comprehensive Recreation Master Plan. The Plan will be available on the County website, and copies will also be  available at 805 South Walker St., Burgaw, NC. Comments can be provided online, via email or over the phone. Comment submission details and a link to the Draft Plan are provided below.

 

Request for Proposals on Demolition of Former Industrial Brownfields Property-Pender Commerce Park

The Bidder is requested to submit a firm Lump Sum/Unit Rate Proposal for the
decommissioning and demolition of the former industrial brownfields facility
located at 101 Vitamin Drive off Hwy 421 in Pender County, North Carolina (Site) in
accordance with all the requirements stipulated in the attached Bid Specification and
documents.

The Successful Bidder shall furnish all the materials, equipment, labor, supervision,
construction tools, equipment, temporary facilities to perform all work and render
all services necessary for and incidental to the proper completion of the project
contained in these Bid Documents.

Pender County intends to award the entire scope of work as a result of this event,
however, Pender County reserves the right to award all, a subset, or none of the
requirements via the RFP or to conduct another event for the requirements at its
sole discretion. Suppliers should bid accordingly during the RFP phase of this
process.

CANDIDATE FILING IS SUSPENDED
By order of the North Carolina Supreme Court, filing for all offices for the 2022 primary is suspended. This includes the rescheduled municipal contests, and any separate filing period for those municipal contests in January.
The March 8, 2022 primary has been moved to May 17, 2022.
For candidates whose filing has already been accepted by the board, that candidate “will be deemed to have filed for the same office” in the May primary, subject to their ability to withdraw in the new filing period (once that period is established), and subject to any court rulings that would impact that candidate’s eligibility.
