Press Release – Pender County Water Boil Advisory Lifted, Mandatory Conservation Continues – May 29, 2019

Pender County water boil advisory lifted, mandatory conservation continues

BURGAW – The water boil advisory has been rescinded for Pender County Utilities customers in Hampstead, Scotts Hill, and south of 7390 NC 210 in Rocky Point.

“Bacteriological analysis results of our drinking water samples that were collected following the loss of water pressure show no coliform bacteria,” said Kenny Keel, Pender County Utilities director. “Pender County Utilities water customers may use the water without boiling.”

The mandatory water restrictions remain in effect.

“Pender County Utilities customers in the Hampstead, Scotts Hill, and southern Rocky Point areas should continue conserving water,” said Keel.

All non-essential uses of drinking water are banned. Garden and landscape irrigation must be reduced to the minimum amount necessary for survival. Customers are urged to wash clothes in full loads only.

Pender County Parks and Recreation, which operates on a separate water system, is also conserving water at each of the county’s parks.
