Pender County Utilities to Resume Disconnections for Overdue Accounts June 24

Home Posted on June 20, 2025

Pender County Utilities will begin disconnecting water and sewer services for customers with delinquent accounts starting Tuesday, June 24, 2025. This action follows an extended grace period granted due to the unexpected closure of Professional Mail Services (PMS) in May, which disrupted the delivery of utility bills for customers across North Carolina.

“We understand the closure of PMS created challenges not only for our customers but for utility providers and municipalities statewide,” said Brian Terry, Water & Sewer Superintendent for Pender County Utilities. “Because of this, we extended payment deadlines and worked to provide as much flexibility as possible.”

Despite these efforts, a number of accounts remain unpaid. Customers with past-due balances must make payment by the deadline of Monday, June 23, at 5:00 p.m. to avoid service disconnection.

Multiple text message alerts have been sent to affected customers, reminding them of their delinquent status and urging immediate action.

Customers are encouraged to pay their utility bills online through the Pender County website or contact Customer Service at (910) 259-1570 to make arrangements or ask questions about their account.

“We strongly encourage anyone with a past-due balance to reach out to us as soon as possible to avoid any service disruption,” Terry added.
