Outside/Other Agencies

Outside Agencies is a budgetary category that includes appropriations from the County’s General Fund and provides these to various non-profit agencies.  These organizations provide services for and on behalf of Pender County’s residents and visitors.  County funding of these organizations is mainly discretionary, meaning the County determines the level of funding for each agency.  The County Manager recommends funding levels based on requests, need, services provided, and funding availability.

Organizations funded under this budget category are typically non-recreational.  Recreation agencies are funded out of the Recreation Department’s budget or the Parks & Recreation Capital Project Account in the CIP.  The agencies provide a wide variety of programs and services to many, including: education, economic development, in-home aide/congregate meals/home delivered meals/transportation for the aging, and assistance to developmentally disabled adults and children, tourism development, airport capital improvements, and environmental protection.
