CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS AND HOUSEHOLD ITEMS
With Trash Sticker once a day a small load under 200lb-
Small quantity of construction debris such as roofing material, wood, wood pallets (must be broken down), sheetrock, furniture and other similar materials may be disposed of at the Rocky Point, Burgaw, and Willard Convenience Centers and the Transfer Station in Hampstead.
Larger loads, in excess of 200 lbs., must be taken to the Hampstead Transfer Station (250 Transfer Station Road) and will be charged the current per ton rate. This service is for individuals only. Contractors with large demolition quantities of debris can make disposal arrangements with the Sampson County Landfill (910.525.4132)
ALWAYS BE SURE TO ATTACH YOUR SOLID WASTE STICKER TO THE WINDSHIELD OF YOUR VEHICLE OR YOU WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO USE THE TRASH AND RECYCLING FACILITY. SOLID WASTE STICKERS ARE ONLY ISSUED TO PENDER COUNTY RESIDENTS LIVING IN THE UNICORPORATED AREAS OF THE COUNTY. COUNTY RESIDENTS WHO LIVE IN THE INCORPORATED AREAS OF THE COUNTY MUST USE THEIR RESPECTIVE MUNICIPAL SOLID WASTE SERVICES FOR PROPER WASTE DISPOSAL.
As of October 1, 2009, ALL NORTH CAROLINIANS MUST RECYCLE
All of the following residential recyclables are co-mingled and can be recycled at all convenience center sites. (Business and/or commercial recyclables must be disposed of through a commercial recycling contract with a private hauler and cannot be taken to the Convenience Sites or the Hampstead Transfer Station.)

SPECIAL WASTES
Some types of wastes cannot be disposed of at the Convenience Centers, or can only be disposed of in limited quantities. Disposal arrangement for large quantities of waste can be made with the Sampson County Landfill (910.525.4132).
Following are some options for disposal of other types of waste in Pender County:
YARD WASTE
State law prohibits the disposal of yard waste and vegetative debris in sanitary landfills. Alternative Disposal Options: backyard composting, controlled burning, or contract with a private hauler.

BULKY FURNITURE
Couches, mattresses, box springs, and similar items under 200lbs. once a day may be brought to the Convenience Centers at Rocky Point, Burgaw, Willard or the Transfer Station for disposal. These items should be placed in the construction and demolition debris (C&D) containers.
Large loads, in excess of 200 lbs., must be taken to the Transfer Station (250 Transfer Station Road) and will be charged the current per ton rate. This service is for individuals only.
ELECTRONIC WASTE
Pender Solid Waste has established a permanent “Electronics” collection site at the Rocky Point Convenience Site, Burgaw Convenience Site, Willard Convenience Site, and Hampstead Convenience Site. Refer to locations map and hours of operation located elsewhere on this web page.
What can be recycled: Computers – CPU’s and mainframes, Monitors – CRT’s and flat screens, Telephones, Cell phones and Telephone systems, Fax Machines and Office Equipment, Printers and Copiers, Televisions , Rechargeable batteries, Electronic Circuit boards and components, Stereo Equipment, Games, PDA’s.
What must be disposed of: Laptops, Hard-drives, and Towers.
